LTSC Catalytic Reaction Modeling using Aspen Plus Software
Last modified: 2015-11-20
Abstract
Low Temperature Shift Convertor (LTSC) is used to convert carbon monoxide (CO) into carbon dioxide (CO2) and produce some hydrogen. LTSC is one of the most important unit operations at the Ammonia Plant. The catalytic process is highly sensitive to process parameters and catalyst activity. Also, the copper based catalyst is one of the most delicate and expensive catalysts at Ammonia Plant. Therefore, vigilant process monitoring is required to ensure optimal performance and long catalyst life.
The paper discusses various catalyst performance evaluation techniques used at Fauji Fertilizer Company, and elaborates the details of catalyst performance evaluation model developed in Aspen Plus using published reaction kinetics data.
