Gaseous and Particulate pollutants from off-gas (coal fired boiler) are causing environmental issues. Theses pollutants are dangerous for green process and suitability. This lecture will cover advances in the field of electro-chemical filters, jet- filters etc, to mitigate the organic pollutants and particulate simultaneously.  Electrostatic precipitator (ESP) equipped with brush type discharge electrode has ability to produce the high intensity corona to enhance the ionization mechanism in ESPs and to produce the oxidizing reagents (O₃) as well. Enhanced corona discharge from brush discharge electrode effectively ionizes the submicronic particle and O₃ actively oxidize the organic pollutants.

A combined process with various advances in the filed of flue gas treatment is proposed for nearly zero pollution technology. ESP equipped with brush discharge electrode is capable to remove Particulate and gaseous pollutants.
