Abstract

Nowadays there is a lot of studies goes on Proton Exchange Membrane fuel cell. Its basic function is to produce electricity or heat without any type of pollution. In PEMFC, the chemical reaction takes place between hydrogen and oxygen gas to produce electricity or gas, water is produced as the by-product.

It operates at a low temperature below 100 degree which is easy to operate and handle. PEMFC research focuses on its size, cost, its performance, and durability. Now a day’s important and very fast growing research on PEMFC by using computer simulation, which is a fast and easy method to know the performance of PEMFC. This method also cheap as compared to practically make PEMFC and get results.

The work represented describe a procedure of computer modeling on high-quality PEMFC by using Ansys Fluent. Also, it describes the procedure of creating a Computer-aided design (CAD) of PEMFC model on solid works. Detail study of parameters of PEMFC and sensitivity of meshing of membrane and catalyst layers is described for good simulation. It also shows the effect on the performance of PEMFC by changing the width of membrane and catalyst layer.
