Abstract

Treatment and re-using of cooling tower blowdown, Boiler blowdown and Reverse Osmosis rejected water as a make-up water in cooling tower was studied in this research work. Newly developed process has been utilized for treatment of the wastewater from 6 MW Waste Heat Recovery power plant located at Bestway Cement Limited Farooqia. The process is able to reduce the all organic and inorganics contaminants. TDS is reduced from (822 ppm to 24 ppm); Chloride reduced from 35 to 6 ppm; Alkalinity is also reduced in reverse osmosis from 340 to 10 ppm; Turbidity, total hardness and silica are 100 % completely removed by the  process used. Treated water used in make-up of cooling tower, so requirement of raw water is reduced from 39 m3 per hour to 22 m3 per hour and quality of make-up water in cooling tower was developed and concentration of salts ware decreased in all parameter of make-up water such as (Dissolved solids 29%, Turbidity 50%, Hardness 32%, Chloride 50%, Alkalinity 30 %, Silica 50% and PH 1.8 %).The process  also helps in  reducing the water consumption, water pollution, use  of chemicals and reduce corrosion, scaling and biological microorganisms
