Abstract
Green buildings (also known as green construction or sustainable building) are the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle. Certain energy conservative and environment friendly steps are required from design, construction, operation, maintenance and renovation. In present era no doubt new technologies are constantly being developed and used in creating greener structures, Energy efficient buildings but the common objective is to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health, natural environment and efficient energy usage with in the building envelope.by:
- Efficiently using available energy sources
- Protecting occupant health, improving employee productivity
- Reducing wear and tear of machines and systems being employed in the building and improving their efficiency by efficiently using electrical energy
Green buildings often include measures to reduce energy use. To increase the efficiency of the building envelope, (the barrier between conditioned and unconditioned space), they may use high-efficiency machines and systems windows and insulation in walls, ceilings, and floors. Another strategy, passive solar building design, is often implemented in low-energy homes.. In addition, effective window placement (daylighting) can provide more natural light and lessen the need for electric lighting during the day. Solar water heating further reduces energy loads.
Onsite generation of renewable energy through solar power, wind power, hydro power, or biomass can significantly reduce the environmental impact of the building. Power generation is generally the most expensive feature to add to a building. Any how power generation using renewable sources that is Solar system may further enhance energy conservation ideas. Use of LED bulbs that remains lighted when electricity fails will further improve efficient use of electrical energy.
