Introduction and Analysis of Persian Poetry of Mirza Mazhar Jan e Janan

Abstract


MirzaMazhar Jan e Janan is a famous poet and writer of Urdu and Persian and aSufi of NaqshbandiMujadadi order of Sufis in 12th Century AH/18th AD in theSub Continent. He was born in 1111 AH / 1700 AD in a well off Sufi andscholarly family in Kala Bagh near Malwa in India. His father and grandfatherwere officers in the courts of Mughal emperors and had owned lands gifted bythe Mughal Kings. MirzaMazhar after getting preliminary education andlearning basic war arts, learnt Quran Majeed from Hafiz Ghulam RasoolDehlvi.He also studied religion and mysticism from Haji Muhammad Afzal, aprominent scholar of the time in Malwa. He was a true follower of NaqshbandiSufi order and struggled for its extension till his last breath. He was killed on 1195 AH / 1781 AD in Dehli and was buried over there.
