Brahman Lahori and his Munshaat
Abstract
Chandar Bhan, Pen name Brahman, was the son of Dharam Das. He is one ofmost celebrated writers and poets of sub-continent during later Mughal’s period.Numerous articles have already been written on his life and works. Most probablyBrahman is the first Hindu poet whose Dewan of Persian poetry exists and has alreadybeen published. Beside this, many of his works have been published lithographically andhave been admired by the scholars, historians and Persian researchers.Munshaat-e- Brahman is an important source of information to acquire knowledge aboutthe political, cultural and literary history of sub-continent during reign ofMughal emperor Shah Jahan (1628-1658). Brahman, in his Munshaate, has includedpresentations to the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb Alamgir, and his lettersto the courtiers, scholars and prominent contemporary personalities, friends and familymembers. .Key words: Brahman Lahori, Munshaat, Persian literarature, Sub-continent,Introduction, Analysis.
