From war journalism to peace journalism: A theoretical perspective

Abstract


This article analyzes the transformation of War journalism overthe years and focuses on some of the major war events namelythe Gulf war of 1990-1991, the Kosovo conflict, the Afghanistanwar and the Iraq war of 2003. By presenting an overview of therecent studies conducted in the field of war journalism, thepaper explores major trends within this field. The study revealsthat media played a biased role in recent wars by maneuveringthe findings of civilian damage and hiding the facts from thebattle ground and thus it seems to serve as a state's tool intransmitting propaganda messages.
