Incidence of seedborne mycoflora of oil yielding Brassica genotypes in vitro --- conditions
Abstract
Seed health status of Brassica genotypes collected from different agro-ecological zones of Pakistan was determined by employing Agar Plating Technique. Genotypes were found infected with Alternaria, Helminthosporium, Fusarium, Curvularia, Aspergillus, Penecillium and Botrytis. The highest incidence of 4.28% was found in genotypes belonging to Brassica campestris, which was followed by B. napus in which the incidence was 12.80%, whereas the least incidence 7.60% was found in genotypes of B. juncea. Across locations, the highest incidence, 42.50%, was found in Mardan (which was followed by Mansehra with an incidence of 22.50% whereas the least incidence 1.25% was found in D. I. Khan. Among fungi, Aspergillus spp, Penecillium spp and Alternaria spp were consistently recovered from all entries of oilseed Brassica genotypes.
