Dr. Muhammad Shahid Farid received the B.S., M.Sc., and M.Phil. degrees in computer science from the University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan, in 2004, 2006, and 2009, respectively. He received his Ph.D. from the Dipartimento di Informatica, Università degli Studi di Torino, Torino, Italy in 2015. He worked as Postdoc researcher for a short term in 2017 at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Qatar University, Doha, Qatar. Currently, Dr. Farid is an Assistant Professor with Department of Computer Science, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He worked on 3D television technology particularly on efficient representation & coding of multiview videos, novel view synthesis techniques and quality assessment of 3D videos. His research interests also include information fusion, biometrics, image segmentation, and medical image analysis. He has more than 54 publications to his name, including 31 journal articles, 21 international peer reviewed conference papers, and 2 international patents. He has won numerous research grants including the competitive and prestigious HEC NRPU research grant for a project titled ‘3DViCoQa: Advanced Techniques for 3D Video Coding and Quality Assessment’. He has been a member of Technical Program Committee for several conferences, including, IEEE FIT, ICACS, and ICOSST, and Area Chair in prestigious ACM SIGMM. He is an Area Editor in Mathematical Problems in Engineering journal and also served as reviewer in numerous journals. He is member IEEE and also HEC approved PhD supervisor.
