Engr. Kamal Shahid

I graduated as an Electrical Engineer (specialization in Communication and Electronics) from University of Central Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan in 2008 and started my career as a BSS Engineer at China Mobile Pakistan (CMPak) – a subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Corporation. After working on several projects here for around 9 months, I intentionally shifted to the teaching and research division and started working as a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, GC University, Faisalabad. In the meanwhile, I did my Masters from CASE, Islamabad with specialization in communication and signal processing. In 2012, I moved to the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of the Punjab in my home city, Lahore.
Currently, I’m pursuing my PhD studies in the Department of Electronic Systems, Aalborg University, Denmark. In order to give this PhD a framework, my work is tied to delve into the various communication aspects in a national research project “RePlan” that aims to develop and assess coordinated control of ancillary services in the Danish power system. At this stage it has been fruitful for me to work in this environment as it allowed me, for instance, to co-supervise a Master’s level student on the topic of IEC-61850 communication standard in a smart grid scenario. Moreover, I have submitted three research articles in different International conferences and working on a journal based article aiming an international journal with impact factor 2.077.
