Mrs. Nagina Kanwal

Nagina Kanwal has been working as a full time Lecturer (English) in Punjab University Jhelum Campus since April, 2012- to date. She has worked as the chairperson of Event Management Society PUJC (2012-13), she has also been an active member of Literary Society and Debating Society PUJC (2013-to date). She is currently enrolled in PhD (Linguistics) Program in FJWU; her doctoral Research area is Multilingualism and Academic literacies. Her research interests are in the field of Applied Linguistics, Critical Discourse Analysis, Feminist Post-Structuralist Discourse Analysis and Intercultural Pragmatics.
She has presented a paper on “Speech Acts and Politeness: A Cross- Cultural Study of Urdu and English Short Stories” in ICLAP 2016 2nd International Conference of Linguistic Association of Pakistan at Institute of Languages, University of the Punjab Lahore. She has attended an International Conference on Gender, Humanities and Social Sciences. 13-15 January 2016. Her research works include “Autobiographical Elements in the Selected Works of Joyce and Lawrence”, an unpublished MA Thesis, Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi. Also “Marked and Unmarked Code Switching: Comparative Conversation Analysis of Television Talk Shows” an unpublished thesis for M. Phil English, Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi. The research paper on “Construction of Subversive Gender Identities: A Feminist Post Structuralist Discourse Analysis” is to be published in the forthcoming issue (2017) of Pakistan Journal of Gender Studies, University of Karachi.
