|  Dr. Muhammad Adnan Shan is currently serving as Assistant Professor at  Centre for Applied Molecular biology (CAMB), University of the Punjab, Lahore. Earlier  he served as a Research Officer/Forensic DNA Scientist and solved more than 500  forensic cases (i.e. parentage analysis, criminal investigation, dead body  identification & bomb blast) at CAMB. He got foreign professional training  in DNA Short Tandem Repeats (STR) Analysis from Strand Analytical Laboratories,  Indianapolis, Indiana, USA in 2007. During the visit he also attended the 18th  International Symposium on Human Identification held at Hollywood, California,  USA. He received M.Phil degree in molecular biology from the Center of  Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, Lahore, and PhD  degree in Forensic Medicine/Genetics with emphasis in Population and Forensic  Genetics using various genetic markers (STRs, Indels, SNPs) from University of  Copenhagen, Denmark after availing overseas PhD scholarship from University of  the Punjab. He has published several research articles in journals of  international repute.His  research interest is in the genetics of human population history, human  evolutionary genetics, genetics of human appearance, forensic molecular biology  and forensic genetics.
