Dr. Ghulam Fatima has done her M.Ed. in Special Education, Masters in English Literature and Ph.D in Education from Institute of Education & Research, University of the Punjab, Lahore. She has been serving in the field of Special Education for the last 29 years. She started her professional career as a teacher of children with hearing impairment at Allama Iqbal School for Special Education Sialkot Cantt, Punjab, Pakistan. She served that school as a teacher, vice principal, then principal for fourteen years. Afterwards she was selected as Senior Special Education Teacher and stood first in open merit in Punjab Public Service Commission and served Government Deaf & Defective Hearing School Gujranwala Pakistan for one year and left that school after being selected as lecturer in Department of Special Education, University of the Punjab, Lahore where she served as lecturer and Assistant Professor (on adhoc) till August 06, 2019. She was selected as Associate Professor in Institute of Education and Research, University of the Punjab, Lahore. She has attended a number of courses/ workshops on Pakistan Sign Language, Audiology & Audiometry, Speech Language Pathology, Curriculum Development, Teaching Methods, inclusive education etc. She was awarded Tamgha e Sialkot by the district Government Sialkot on March 23, 2005 for her meritorious services in the field of Special Education. She is teaching to Master, M.Phil and Phd classes and supervising research theses at Master, M.Phil and Phd level. She has organized a number of seminars as Incharge Seminars, many study tours as Incharge Tours and annual sports as Incharge Sports. She has presented more than 100 research papers in national and international conferences. She has got more than 40 articles published in journals of national and international repute. She has authored and co-authored 11 books. She has visited Australia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, United States of America (two times), Japan, Egypt and Malaysia to present research papers and represented Pakistan in the world. She is the chairperson of IER Purchase Committee, and member of IERDPC. She is also serving as Superintendent of Girls Hostel No.1, University of the Punjab since August 18, 2015. Her aim of life is to uplift the status of persons with disabilities by including them in general community. Her focus of interest is to conduct research studies on curriculum, different areas of inclusive education, early childhood special education, Early childhood inclusive education, hearing impairment, visual impairment, physical disabilities, mental retardation etc.
