Mr. Nafees Ahmad (M.Phil Archaeology) has been working as Lecturer in the Department of Archaeology, University of the Punjab, Lahore since March 2014. His M.Phil research is on “Terracotta Human Figurines from Mehrgarh, An Analytical Study of Decorative Features” circa 7000 BCE to 2500 BCE. He joined University of the Punjab in April, 2010 as Assistant Curator, Teaching Museum at the same department and surveyed various Harappan period mounds of Cholistan in 2011. Before joining the university, he served the Department of Archaeology and Museums, Government of Pakistan from January, 2008 to April, 2010 as Field Officer and participated in the excavations of Proto Historic and Historic period sites. He also carried the charge of more than thirty five thousand antiquities housed in Exploration and Excavation Branch, Karachi and worked on their digital cataloguing. In 2012, he got one month training of Field Archaeology and Museology from Smithsonian Institution Washington DC and Wisconsin University, Madison, USA. He also got training on “Museum Education and Heritage Learning Techniques” organized by Finnish Museum Association, Finland and Lahore Museum, Lahore and “Professional Competency Enhancement Program for Teachers” organized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad. He has participated in various national and international conferences and seminars and presented research papers on different topics. His fields of interest are Field Archaeology, Museology and Indus Valley Civilization.
