 Mr. Muhammad Arif is serving as a Lecturer in Economics at the School of Economics,
University of the Punjab, Lahore, and also as the Student Advisor. In addition to his teaching
responsibilities, he has actively contributed to student guidance, mentorship, and professional
development. Previously, he served as the Focal Person for the Career Counselling and
Placement Centre (CCPC) at the University, where he played a vital role in enhancing student
employability, promoting career awareness, and strengthening industry–academia
collaboration through initiatives such as workshops, seminars, and job fairs.
He holds an M.Phil. in Economics from the University of the Punjab and has maintained a first-
class academic record throughout his education. His diverse professional background spans
academia, research, public administration, and the financial sector. He has served as Section
Officer (Reforms) and Assistant Director (Establishment) at the Higher Education
Department, Government of the Punjab, where he contributed to policy implementation and
institutional development. Earlier, he worked as a Research Fellow at the Lahore Chamber of
Commerce & Industry, where he conducted macroeconomic and trade policy analyses and
contributed to research supporting business-sector development and policymaking. His
experience in the Compliance Group of a leading bank, focusing on regulatory frameworks
and prudential policies, further strengthened his applied understanding of economic and financial
systems.
With hands-on, multifaceted experience across the banking sector, chamber of commerce, and
public administration, he brings a strong practical orientation that complements his theoretical
expertise in economics. His teaching and research interests include Public Finance,
Macroeconomics, Business Economics, and Islamic Banking & Finance. |
