Ms. Shumaila Abbas
I was born on 23rd March, 1984 in Lahore, Pakistan. I graduated from Govt. Islamia College for Women, Lahore Cantt., Lahore. I have received my M.Sc. in Statistics from College of Statistical and Actuarial Sciences, University of the Punjab in 2006, with distinction. During my masters I haunted “Talent Farming Award” from HEC. I have joined CSAS as a regular Lecturer in Statistics in April, 2010. Previous to that I have served Punjab Education Department, as Lecturer in Statistics for one year. During my stay at CSAS, I have completed my M.Phil in Statistics with session 2011-2013.
Currently, i am teaching to BS and Masters Classes and providing thesis supervision to BS, Masters and M.Phil students. Presently I am teaching, Probability and Probability Distributions and Time Series Analysis and Forecasting. Other courses taught by me are; Stochastic Processes, Statistical Inference, Basic Econometrics and Total Quality Management. I have experience in working with Softwares like SPSS, R & Liseral. My areas of interest are Probability and Time Series Analysis.
I am member of the Board of Faculty of Sciences, University of the Punjab and of many departmental committees as well. I have attended two international conferences and many seminars and workshops conducted within the university. I have also successfully completed a research project funded by the University of the Punjab during the fiscal year (2014-2015) and have a research paper on my credit published in 2015.
