Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology

Initially a two year course, leading to the B.Sc. degree in Technical Chemistry by the Punjab University was started in 1917 at the F.C. College Lahore which was replaced by a three-year B.Sc. (Hon.) in 1925. In 1946, it was shifted to the Old Campus, Punjab University and raised to the status of an Institute in 1948. Vision
To be a world class engineering institute recognized for excellence in education, innovation and entrepreneurship leading to socio-economic development of society.
Mission
The Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology strives to:
•	Provide a high-quality learning experience to produce Chemical Engineers to meet the human resource needs of the country.
•	Provide technical skills in design, synthesis, optimization and operations that will equip graduates in assuming leadership positions in education, research and services.
Program educational objectives (PEOs)
The graduates from the Institute are expected to meet the following program educational objectives through our educational structure:
PEO1: Apply knowledge and skills to work effectively as productive Chemical Engineers and entrepreneurs (individually as well as a team member) in chemical process industries, academic and research organizations, chemical marketing and sales companies, and government departments.
PEO2: Constantly advance knowledge through professional training, research and lifelong learning.
PEO3: Work professionally and communicate effectively in order to devise technically sound and optimal solutions to engineering problems while observing ethical practices.
Program Learning Outcomes
Program learning outcomes adopted by Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology are the same as listed in PEC Accreditation Manual 2019 as given below.
1.	Engineering Knowledge (PLO 1): An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2.	Problem Analysis (PLO 2): An ability to identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences.
3.	Design/Development of Solutions (PLO 3): An ability to design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or processes that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4.	Investigation (PLO 4): An ability to investigate complex engineering problems in a methodical way including literature survey, design and conduct of experiments, analysis and interpretation of experimental data, and synthesis of information to derive valid conclusions.
5.	Modern Tool Usage (PLO 5): An ability to create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools, including prediction and modeling, to complex engineering activities, with an understanding of the limitations.
6.	The Engineer and Society (PLO 6): An ability to apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice and solution to complex engineering problems.
7.	Environment and Sustainability (PLO 7): An ability to understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of, and need for, sustainable development.
8.	Ethics (PLO 8): Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of engineering practice.
9.	Individual and Team Work (PLO 9): An ability to work effectively, as an individual or in a team, on multifaceted and /or multidisciplinary settings.
