Initially a two year course, leading to the B.Sc. degree in Technical Chemistry by the Punjab University was started in 1917 at the F.C. College Lahore which was replaced by a three-year B.Sc. (Hon.) in 1925. In 1946, it was shifted to the Old Campus, Punjab University and raised to the status of an Institute in 1948.
