Electrochemical adsorption of methylene blue on platinum coated with graphene oxide

Abstract
Graphene oxide (GO) coatings were synthesized by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method on platinum (Pt) electrode. Pt coated with GO (Pt-GO) electrode was employed in electrochemical adsorption of methylene blue using cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique. Dye adsorption resulted in redox couple on both pristine Pt and Pt-GO electrode, however, anodic and cathodic currents were found higher for the latter than the former, suggesting GO coating catalyses/accelerates electrochemical adsorption of dye. The adsorbed dye on Pt-GO electrode was released in 0.5M H2SO4 using CV suggesting that Pt-GO electrode can be successfully regenerated.
