Abstract


Global warming is one of the major problems in the current scenario that arises because of the increase in greenhouse gases. It is a widespread belief that global warming of greater than 20 oC is dangerous. Global warming will exceed by 20 oC, if CO2 emissions are not cut down by 50 % by the end of 2050 and by more thereafter. The best way to reduce global warming is to cut down the anthropogenic emission of greenhouse gases. But the world is addicted to the use of fossil fuels. So, geoengineering technique is suggested an alternative to reduction in CO2 emissions. In this paper, we have analyzed the effect of carbon aerosols, released in the stratospheric layer, on solar radiation for Lahore using Bouguer-Beer law. It is observed that there is a reduction of about 64.3% by introducing black carbon aerosol. The effects of attenuation irradiance over Pakistan have been visualized on Geographic Information System (GIS Software). This work forms basis for reducing global warming using geoengineering for Pakistan.
