Abstract
Filtration at temperature 260°C is called hot gas filtration, normally hot gas filtration occur at 900°C and 8MPa. Today Hot gas filtration has become very important process due to Low emissions level requirements of PM10 and PM2.5, in order to supply clean water for wet scrubbing, to have improved process efficiency, product quality, process economics further in many processes high temperature filtration is required to avoid undesirable condensation and desublimation reactions. Hot gas filtration has vast application in industry like in chemical industries, power generation systems, oil refineries, metal refining and recycling etc.
In this paper the main focus is on the filtration behavior and dust properties with varying temperature range of hot gases. Since filtration temperature directly influence the dust properties such as particle size distribution, adhesion, cohesion, compressibility, dust softening or sintering, dust bridging, porosity of cake etc. all these parameters define the pressure drop and detachment behavior of cake. Further characteristics of different hot gas filter media and hot gas filter systems are analyzed such as ceramic filter media, metal filter media etc. as at higher temperature higher thermal, chemical, mechanical stability and properties of materials are required. Moreover applications of hot gas filtration are presented and importance of hot gas filtration is discussed in this paper as downstream equipment such as heat exchangers, scrubbers, turbines etc. are protected from erosion and fouling and process efficiency can be improved by preventing condensation and desublimation
