Hassan Shaeri Kashmiri and examples of Na’at from Miraat-ul-Khyal

Abstract


Persian literature is enriched with twinkling Jewels form the land ofKashmir. Kashmiri known as ‘Shaeri’, Fakhar-ul-Shu’ra and Aftab-e-Hind (1223 AD- 1298AD) was a Na’at sura.He lead his life in Sirinagar (occupied Kashmir). After the death of hisfather, he left Kashmir in the era of “Kharak Sing son of Ranjit Singh”.He used to travel to Lahore, Delhi and Amritsar for business.He was poet of Hindi style but his poetry was found not suchcomplicated but simple and fluent. He died in ‘Amritsar’. In poetry,Mirat-ul-Khyal, Mathnavi La’al-o-Guhar, Qissa Chahar Dervesh and inprose Gulzar-e-Khalil, Zubdatul Akhyar, Tuhfatul-Makkiah andMaktubat-e-Ahmad Kashmiri are the master pieces he left.Keywords: Shaeri Kashmiri, Amritsar, Kashmir, Mira’at-ul-Khyal,Kharak Singh.
