Comparative Study of Subjective and Worldly Experiences in the Poetical Works of Sultan Bahu and Lyrics of Shams

Abstract


The comparative study of literary works in different nations makes it possible for societiesto link to each other in term of literature. Finding common aspects among literary worksleads to inter-mental thoughts hence societies could influence each other. One of the mostimportant mystical characters in Pakistan and Indian subcontinent is Sultan Bahu whoseideas and are based on the unity school of thought. Also, Molana Jalaloddin-e-Balkhiexpresses his mystic teachings in a sensational manner in Shams lyrics, these mysticexperiences have been used to explain the final truth and the unity idea. Sultan Bahu andMolana's manner of expression are mostly mystical-lyrical and joy and happiness can beperceived from their works. This paper addresses the comparative study of mysticalexperiences of these two great Arifs. In the poetical works of Sultan Bahu and Shams lyricsmystical experiences have been expressed through subjective and worldly mysticism. Themystical experiences of Sultan Bahu are worldly and those of Molavi are subjective.Key words: Subjective experience, worldly experience, Sultan Bahu, Molana JalaloddinBalkhi.
