Literary works reflect the status of a particular nation and also expressculture, traditions, customs, civilization and their future objectives. Inthe mirror of literature one can see the causes of failure and decline of anation and reasons of rise as well. So the historical, moral and socialstudy of literature has significant impact on society. In this article theprominence and importance of literature on social fabric of a society isdiscussed. In this regard some valuable statements rendered byRabinder Nath Tagor, the noble laureate literary figure of Bengal onimportance of literary translations, have also been mentioned andappreciated.Key words: Literature’s social impact, Objectives and motives ofliterary translations.
