Abstract


Asghar Ali Ruhi, besides Iqbal and Gerami, is a prominent poet of theSubcontinent in the British period. Like Saadi and Rumi, he gave newdimensions to the Persian literature. He was proficient in Persian as wellas Arabic, so he has written verses in both of these languages. In Persianpoetry, he adheres to his predecessors. His skill with “Qasida” isrenowned. His “Qasidas” are highly valued for their subject and form. Infact he can be called after Khusro, Faizi, Bedil and Ghalib, a great Qasidawriter of Subcontinent.
