The Gift of Epic, from Tus to Kashmir (A Brief Analysis of Shahnama-e-Kashmir)
Abstract
Due to educational and literary importance of Persian languagein Ghaznavi era, Persian kept on flourishing in sub-continent in the samemanner. People of this continent wrote superb fiction in this languageand followers of the religions other than Islam also considered Persianlanguage inevitable for success. One of the literary figures of subcontinentwas Raja Sukh Jeevan, he was of sikh origin and was the thenruler of Kashmir. He had great mastery over Persian language and wasaware of the importance of Persian language. He established a societyin Kashmir valley and named it “the society of Persian poets ofKashmir”. He also selected seven poets to narrate the history of Kashmirvalley and particularly of Ranjit Singh in the style ofShahnama-e-Firdowsi to save the history of his times.
