Author Guidelines

Al-Hikmat: A Journal of Philosophy welcomes submissions that align with its focus and scope, promoting rigorous philosophical research and intellectual discourse. Authors are encouraged to carefully follow the guidelines below to ensure their submissions meet the journal’s standards for review and publication.


Manuscript Preparation:

  1. Language:

    • Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English.
  2. Formatting:

    • Use Times New Roman, font size 12, and double-spacing throughout the document.
    • Margins should be set at 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
    • Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  3. Structure:

    • Title Page: Should include the title of the paper, author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information (email address).
    • Abstract: A concise summary of the paper’s purpose, methodology, findings, and conclusions (150–250 words).
    • Keywords: Provide 4–6 relevant keywords for indexing and search purposes.
    • Main Text: Organized into appropriate sections such as Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology, Discussion, Conclusion, and References.
    • References: Follow the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), 5th edition, 2001.

Citation and Referencing Style:

All citations and references should adhere strictly to the APA (5th edition) format.

Examples:

  • Books:
    Author, A. A. (Year of Publication). Title of work: Capital letter also for subtitle. Publisher.

    Example: Smith, J. A. (2001). Understanding Philosophy: An Introduction. Oxford University Press.

  • Journal Articles:
    Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, volume number(issue number), pages.

    Example: Miller, C., & Johnson, R. (2004). Ethics in Contemporary Philosophy. Journal of Philosophical Studies, 12(3), 45–67.

  • Chapters in Edited Books:
    Author, A. A. (Year). Title of chapter. In E. E. Editor (Ed.), Title of Book (pp. pages). Publisher.

    Example: Brown, L. (2002). Political Philosophy. In R. White (Ed.), Modern Philosophical Thought (pp. 123–145). Cambridge University Press.


Supplementary Files:

Authors are encouraged to upload supplementary files that enhance the comprehensiveness of their submissions. These may include:

  • Data Sets: Raw data or statistical analyses relevant to the research.
  • Research Instruments: Questionnaires, surveys, or interview guidelines used in the study.
  • Multimedia Files: Diagrams, charts, or tables that cannot be incorporated directly into the manuscript.

Submission Process:

Manuscripts should be submitted through the Al-Hikmat online submission system. The editorial team will acknowledge receipt of submissions within 5 working days

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. TManuscript Format:
    • The submission file is in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
    • The text is double-spaced with 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.
    • The manuscript uses 12-point Times New Roman font
  2. Title Page:

    • Includes the title of the paper, author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), and contact information (email address).
    • Authors’ names and affiliations are provided separately to ensure a blind review.
  3. Abstract and Keywords:

    • An abstract of 150–250 words summarizing the paper’s purpose, methodology, findings, and conclusions.
    • 4–6 relevant keywords are provided for indexing.
  4. Referencing Style:

    • All citations and references follow the APA (5th edition) format.
    • A complete reference list is provided at the end of the manuscript.
  5. Originality and Plagiarism:

    • The submission is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by any other journal.
    • The manuscript has been screened for plagiarism using reliable detection tools.
  6. IEthical Considerations:
    • Research involving human or animal subjects has been approved by relevant ethical committees, if applicable.
  7. Supplementary Files (if applicable):

    • Relevant data sets, research instruments, or multimedia files are provided to enhance the manuscript’s quality.
  8. Copyright Agreement:

    • The author(s) agree to transfer copyright to Al-Hikmat: A Journal of Philosophy upon acceptance of the manuscript.

  10. Compliance with Journal Policies:

    • The manuscript adheres to the Focus and Scope, Author Guidelines, and Peer Review Policy of the journal.
    1. Cover Letter (if required):

    • A brief cover letter addressed to the Editor, highlighting the significance of the research and its relevance to the journal’s scope.
 

Copyright Notice

Authors who publish with Al-Hikmat: A Journal of Philosophy agree to the following terms:

  1. Copyright Ownership:

    • Copyright for articles published in Al-Hikmat remains with the author(s).
    • The journal is granted the right of first publication, with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This permits others to share, copy, distribute, and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided the original author(s) and source are properly credited.
  2. Author’s Rights:

    • Authors retain the right to use their work for educational and research purposes, including posting it to institutional repositories, academic websites, or personal profiles, with appropriate acknowledgment of its publication in Al-Hikmat.
  3. Distribution Rights:

    • Authors are encouraged to disseminate their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their websites) to enhance visibility and citation of their published research.
  4. Permission for Reuse:

    • Any commercial use or distribution of the work requires prior permission from the author(s) and the editorial board of Al-Hikmat.
  5. Publication Agreement:

    • Submission of a manuscript implies that the author(s) agree to abide by the journal’s copyright and publication policies.

All personal information provided to the journal, including names, affiliations, contact details, and other identifiable information, will be kept strictly confidential and used solely for the stated purposes of the journal’s publication process.

Reviewers' identities remain anonymous to authors throughout the peer-review process to ensure unbiased and fair evaluations.
