Author Guidelines

Journal Of Behavioural Sciences (JBS) Is A Research Journal Published By The Institute Of Applied Psychology, University Of The Punjab, Lahore-Pakistan On Biannual Basis Since 1991. JBS Encourages Articles From Different Specializations In Psychology And Allied Discipline Covering All Aspects Of Human Behavior. Although Original Articles Based On Empirical Data Are Preferred, Brief Reports, Review Articles, Meta-Analyses, Systematic Reviews And Single Case Studies Are Also Considered For Publication In The JBS.  

JBS Has A Double Blind Peer Reviewing Policy. Initial Screening For The Suitability Of The Article For Publication In JBS Is Carried Out By The Associate Editors And Subsequently The Manuscript Is Sent For Blind Reviewing. Each Article Is Reviewed By One Local Professional And One Professional From Academically Advanced Countries. Authors Are Informed About The Comments Or Suggestions Of The Reviewers And Are Required To Revise Their Paper In Stipulated Time Period.

The Author(S) Have To Provide An Undertaking That: A) The Material Given In The Article Is Original (Not Plagiarized); B) Those Who Contributed In Various Capacities Have Either Been Included As Authors Or Have Been Duly Acknowledged; C) The Manuscripts Submitted To The JBS For Publication Is Not Submitted Or Published Elsewhere. Agreement And Undertaking Form Is Provided By The JBS Committee To The Authors Subsequent To Manuscript Submission. It Is Important That The Submitting Author(S) Comply With The Ethics Laid Down By The APA In Its Recent Publication Manual (APA 7th Ed.). The Paper Is Published After Its Clearance For Plagiarism As Per HEC Policy.  

Preparation of Manuscript: Articles Written Only In English Language Are Accepted For Publication. Spellings Should Follow Webster's Dictionary Or Oxford English Dictionary. All Submissions Including Book Reviews Must Have A Title, Left Aligned. Article Should Not Be More Than 25 (A4 Size) Pages (Around 5000 Words) With Double Line Spaces (1 Inch Margin At Each Side) Including One Title Page, Tables, Figures And References In Microsoft Word Format.

Title page: The Title Page Shall List (1) Full Title Of Up To 12 Words, Which Should Be Concise But Informative; (2) A Short Running Head Of 3 To 4 Words; (3) All Authors' Names Along With Their Institutes Of Affiliation; (4) Full Postal Address, Including Email, Telephone And Fax Number Of The Corresponding Author. The Corresponding Author Is The One Whom Correspondence And Reprint Requests Are To Be Sent. The Author(S) Names Should Only Appear In The Title Page As The Review Process Requires Anonymity.

Abstract: Should Range Between 120-150 Words For All Articles Except For Book Reviews. An Abstract Is A Concise Summary Of The Whole Paper, Not Just The Conclusions. It Should State Purpose Of The Study, Hypotheses, Method, Analysis, Main Findings And Conclusions.

Introduction: Contains Theoretical Framework, Rational Of The Study, Review Of Updated And Relevant Researches. Objectives And Hypotheses Are Required To Be Clearly Listed.

Method: Should Include Design Of The Study, Sample Description, Assessment Protocols, Ethical Considerations And Procedure Of Data Collection.

Results: Present Your Results In Logical Sequence In The Text, Tables And Illustrations (Figures). Do Not Repeat All The Data Given In The Table Or Figures While Describing In Text; Emphasize Only Important Ones. Tables, Figures And Illustrations Must Be Placed On Separate Sheets After The References And Prepared According To The APA's Prescribed Format. Each Table Must Have A Title, Be Numbered In Sequence With Arabic Numerals. Clear Notes Should Be Made By The Author(S) At Approximate Point Of Insertion In The Text.

Discussion: Discuss Major Findings; Emphasize New And Important Aspects Of The Study And Implications & Conclusions Follow From Them. Repetition Of The Material In Introduction Section And Results Is Avoided.

References: Follow APA 7th Manual For Citations And List Of References.

Submission Of Manuscript To JBS:
Electronic Submission Is Preferred. Correspondence Regarding Publication Should Be Addressed To The Chief Editor On jbs.apsy@gmail.com & jbs.appsy@pu.edu.pk And For Sending Manuscript Through Surface Mail Addressed To Editor, Journal Of Behavioural Sciences, Institute Of Applied Psychology, University Of The Punjab, Quaid-E-Azam Campus, Lahore-Pakistan.  

  • The processing fee of Rs. 3000 and publishing fee of Rs. 5000 will be applicable from effective November 1st, 2021.
  • Every author is required to provide two international reviewers names along with their manuscript submitted.
  • If at any point in submission, the author asks to add or remove the second or third author's name it will not be done. The author will be informed that it is ethically wrong to do so and therefore against the policy of JBS as well.
  • As per the updated policy of HEC, Journal of Behavioral Sciences will not accept and process any submission that will have Associate Editors among the authors.

Manuscript Submission
Preferred mode of submission is electronic. Correspondence related to publication should be directed to the Chief Editor at jbs.appsy@pu.edu.pk and jbs.apsy@gmail.com For physical submissions, manuscripts can be posted to the Editor, Journal of Behavioural Sciences, Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, Quaid-E-Azam Campus, Lahore, Pakistan.

Article Processing Charges (APC) & Publication Fee
• A processing fee of .2000 (PKR) is charged at the time of submission. In case of acceptance, a publishing fee of 5000 (PKR) is charged when the article is published.
• Authors are required to provide the names of two international reviewers along with their submitted manuscripts.
• Changes to authorship order, including the addition or removal of second or third authors, will not be accommodated once the submission of Author Agreement Form is made. Such changes are considered ethically inappropriate and against the policy of JBS.
• As per the updated policy of HEC, Journal of Behavioral Sciences will not accept submissions with Associate Editors listed as authors and coauthors.

Subscription Information
• Subscription Cost: The annual subscription fee for the Journal of Behavioral Sciences is PKR. 1600/-. This fee covers access to a one-year subscription, which includes multiple issues packed with valuable research articles, case studies, reviews, and analyses from prominent researchers and experts in the behavioral sciences.
• Cancellation Policy: Refunds for subscription payments will not be issued 10 days after the initial issue has been dispatched.
• Policy Regarding Claims: Any claims regarding missing print issues must be submitted within four months from the publication date or the order date (whichever is later).
• Change of Address Procedure: For swift processing of change of address requests, kindly enclose the existing mailing label or order number along with the notification of your new address. Please anticipate a period of 4 weeks for the address update to take effect.
• Subscription Process: To subscribe to the Journal of behavioral Sciences (JBS), you have the option to complete the process online or reach out to the editorial office via email.
• Single Issue Orders: If you wish to obtain individual issues of the Journal of behavioral Sciences (JBS), including both recent and past editions, you can do so contingent on stock availability. Please send an email to the editorial office at jbs.apsy@gmail.com and jbs.appsy@pu.edu.pk with Specifying the journal name, volume number, and issue number. Upon receipt of your request, our team will verify availability and send you an invoice for payment if a print copy can be provided.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Responsibilities:

Authors are responsible for selecting the preferred licensing option during the manuscript
submission process.

Authors must ensure that the content they submit for publication does not infringe upon
the rights of others, including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights.

In the case of using third-party materials, authors are responsible for obtaining necessary
permissions and attributions.
Reuse and Redistribution:

Readers, researchers, and other interested parties are allowed to reuse and redistribute
