Development of a Strategy for Dropout Control at Primary Level
Abstract
Dropout at primary school level is a serious problem in Pakistan. Dropout causes substantial wastage of resources. The purpose of the study was to develop a strategy for the control of dropout at primary level in Bannu division. The respondents of the study were 49 educational managers and 200 primary schools teachers. Self developed questionnaire was used for data collection. Percentage was used for data analysis. Unawareness of the parents, poverty of the parents, heavy work load at home, teachers’ absenteeism, untrained teachers, failure or repetition of grades and migration of parents are the major causes of dropout at primary level in Bannu Division.
